When we announced the birth of our daughter, we received many comments which ranged from simple congratulatory wishes to parental advice to some fun tongue in check commentary. One of them was, "welcome to the world of laundry overtime" (I'm paraphrasing, of course)
The truth of it only struck when basketfuls of laundry had to be carried up and down the steep stairs to the basement washer. I dare say our washer is the hardest working appliance at present.
In the same vein, I must add that I've never thanked any inventor as much as I've thanked the folks who came up with the idea of the disposable diapers!
How true! and the inventor of the automatic washer and dryer! I can't imagine how my grandparents and those before them managed to keep up with it all!
